Remember that feeling of accomplishment when you completed a Lego structure as a kid? You felt like the king of the world. Sure your imagination might have been a bit bigger then, but the fact remains that you had still completed a true construction project. If only you could build like that now. Well, now you can.
A company called Everblock has released a new line of home-furniture building blocks based off of the Lego brick design. The blocks are bright, colorful, and just as modular as any piece of Lego. Want to make a coffee table? Done. Need a new bar? Finished. The bricks are significantly bigger than Lego blocks and are available in 14 colors and three different sizes. This means there is plenty of opportunity for creative designs. The amount of combinations is limited only to the imagination.
The new blocks are also outfitted with space for wooden dowels to increase structural integrity, grooves for power cords, and easy access for LED light strips in case you want to really dazzle people with an illuminated piece of furniture. They’re perfect for a kid’s bedroom or playroom, but they’re also equally valuable in other parts of your home. While it might seem like it’s all fun and games, Everblock is in the process of developing doors and windows that can attach to the bricks. This would lead to the ability to quickly and easily build emergency housing for people in need. An entire house could be stacked on a pallet and sent anywhere in the world for instant access to housing.
You might not be building your own home out of Lego anytime soon, but the idea that simple and modular furniture is now accessible for everyone promises to open the doors for some incredible concepts.
