It’s time to declutter. Wait, but it’s not spring cleaning yet! Why declutter now? Because decluttering isn’t necessarily something you need to do all at once. You should declutter now, next month, the moth after that, and so on and so forth until you hit 2017. By following this simple monthly guide to decluttering you’ll be able to hit every nook and cranny in your home over a long period of time, rather than forcing yourself to do it all at once. Here’s how to get started!
Take this first month in the new year when you’re full of energy to accomplish projects and make some significant decluttering headway anywhere you can! If you get a noticeable chunk of decluttering taken care of right away then it will be easier to chip away at it in the coming months. During this process try to put an empty bin in any and all of your closets as an easy place to corral items that you intend to donate in the future.
The next part of the process is learning the outline for which parts of the house to declutter during what time of year. January is a great time to start with the kitchen and pantry followed by the home office in February. March is when you should start to deal with clothes and accessories while April is the month to tackle your bathroom and medicine cabinets. The list goes on and on until the end of the year. The cleaning and decluttering is a big part of the task, but the other significant aspect is learning new habits for keeping your home clutter free as you go. Start cleaning out your fridge before shopping, switch as many bills to paperless as possible, tidy up your entryway at the end of each day, and always put your crafting stash away once you’re done working. It’s habits like this that will insure that your home remains clean and orderly once you’ve cut down on all your excess stuff!
