When it comes to reading about interior design there are certain terms and vocabulary that you might end up glossing over because you don’t quite know what the words mean. This is perfectly common and can be particularly challenging when it comes to the language surrounding color. Here’s a look at some of the common words that are used to describe color. ‘Hue’ is the word used to discuss the general attribute of a color. If something looks green then that green color is the hue. The ‘value’ of a color refers to the lightness or darkness of its hue. ‘Saturation’ is a measurement of the intensity of a specific color. If you were to de-saturate a color completely the result would be gray. Crank saturation to the max and the vibrancy of the color would be nearly glowing from the intensity. These color terms get thrown around all the time but it can be useful to get a refresher on what each of them truly means. Check the link below to see examples of each definition!
