EPA proposes revisions to Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act

Recently, the EPA proposed making revisions to existing drinking water regulations. The EPA’s new proposal would establish labeling requirements in order to differentiate between plumbing products. The purpose is for individuals to be able to easily identify lead-free plumbing materials from those that are exempt from federal lead-free regulations. Manufacturers would be mandated to certify compliance with the lead-free materials. The purpose of the proposed requirements is to reduce inadvertent purchase and installation of non-lead-free plumbing materials. The EPA is accepting comments on this proposal until April 17th. Submit comments to www.regulations.gov. Identify your submission by Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OW-2015-0680.
