How To Fluidly Incorporate A Flatscreen TV Into Your Design

The flatscreen TV. It’s a necessity in most homes, but it’s a necessity that carries with it plenty of design problems. Plus they manage to keep getting bigger and bigger and taking up more and more room in your home! As a homeowner in the modern age you will simply have to live with the reality that a large, black rectangle is going to occupy part of the space. Rather than fighting against it you should learn these clever ways to decorate your room around a flatscreen TV!

A flatscreen TV is especially tricky to design around when you live in a home with modern decor. It’s hard to miss the TV when you have lots of chic, white walls in the living room. Use this contrast to your advantage! Find other pieces of black decor that can help offset the size and intensity of the black TV. If you can reduce the glaring contrast from that one, large object then it will soften the entire design of the room. Black and white art can be particularly valuable in this case. It’s even possible to go a step further and paint one accent wall in the room black and using white as the offsetting, contrasting color. The TV will blend into the wall and you’ll end up with a gorgeous, bold look!

Camouflage is another great option for your flatscreen TV. The best way to camouflage the TV is to use artwork as a buffer. Create an entire gallery wall with artwork so that the TV itself seems like a piece of the art. This will work very well if you choose pieces of art that are of a size within the same scale as the TV. Try mixing and matching these larger pieces of art with smaller pieces for a more eclectic look! If that’s not your style then you can always try using symmetry on either side of the TV or by using artwork that is all the same size as an outline around the TV. The goal with all of these solutions is to make the TV feel as though it’s simply another framed piece of art on the wall!

You might not like having to deal with a big, flatscreen TV, but if you design around it properly than it can actually be a very chic, beautiful addition to your home! Check out all the photo examples in the article below!
