Most people would prefer to forget about 1980s architecture, but this home in Perth, Australia proves that 1980’s design can be updated to tremendous effect. The finished product is a beautiful combination of contrasts and sleek lines. The white and black exterior of the home provides the first hint of the interior design found inside. The angular entryway is softened by the presence of natural wood at the door. The sharp lines of the first floor are softened by the swooping black curves on the second floor. This interplay of black and white continues throughout the house and into the backyard where a glistening blue pool adds a splash of color. The kitchen showcases the contrasting design beautifully by featuring all-black cabinets and stark white floors and counters. Natural wood accents help to create relief for the eyes as well as creating texture. It may have started as a home from the 1980s, but it’s now unmistakably modern.
