Remember when the living room was a place for the family to gather without the intrusion of modern technology? Maybe? It’s hard to imagine that being the case in this day and age where living rooms are designed around the TV and where charging cables for an entire retinue of electronic devices hang from every outlet. There are still some people in the world who prefer a more classic idea for the living room. You’ll love how these rooms look!
The first home wanted to create a family-friendly area for both parents and kids. What’s immediately clear from the design is that it’s focused on people. Sofas and chairs face one another, rather than a TV set against a wall. A large window brings in tons of natural light and makes the room inviting. Since the room needs to accommodate children, lower furniture and durable fabrics were used. It’s easy to imagine a family interacting in this warm, cozy space.
The second home has a far more refined aesthetic that favors a dignified over a cozy approach. However, there are similarities in the overall structure of the design in the sense that both homes emphasize sitting areas for the interaction between people. Since the room is not dedicated to a TV set, there’s ample room for several different sitting areas. There’s the main area with a sofa and two armchairs, as well as satellite areas with their own chairs and sofas. This versatility makes it a great room for entertaining or for retreating with a good book.
The final home’s living room is extremely bright and welcoming. Like the previous homes it focuses on sitting areas that encourage conversation and interaction. The white walls and white furniture are brought to life by a the windows, which let in a dazzling amount of natural light. It’s important to note that a living room that focuses on a TV would never be able to accommodate this much natural light without washing out the image on the TV screen! Gold accents round out the bright and glistening appeal of this living room.
It’s amazing how inviting and bright a living room can be when the emphasize is steered away from technology. Take a look at the homes in the article below and choose your favorite!
